Can I Re-Lock an Orange Learning Words Test After Unlocking It by Mistake?

Can I Re-Lock an Orange Learning Words Test After Unlocking It by Mistake?

If you’ve accidentally unlocked an Orange Learning Words test, you may be wondering if it’s possible to re-lock it. Re-locking a test is not a feature available in Spellings for Me. However, this should not be a cause for concern, and there are two simple ways to manage the situation.

Option 1: Inform Your Students Not to Take the Test Yet

You can simply let your students know that the Orange Learning Words test was unlocked in error. Explain that this test is for the words they will be studying over the next four weeks and that they should not take it until you instruct them to do so.

This option keeps everything running as usual, with students taking the test at the correct time under your guidance.

Option 2: Have the Student(s) Take the Test Immediately

Alternatively, you can ask the student or the entire class to take the test right away. There is no disadvantage to this—all that happens is:

  • The student is tested on their current Orange Learning Words.
  • If they haven’t learned these words yet, they will likely spell them incorrectly and those words will still go into their next set of Orange Learning Words.
  • No words will be missed, and their learning progression remains unchanged.

What Does This Mean for You as a Teacher?

The only effect this will have on your end is the absence of the lock symbol next to the student’s name for the next few weeks. This simply means the test has been unlocked, but the learning cycle and spelling progression will continue as normal.

Either option ensures that students will still focus on the words they need to learn and that their spelling development is not affected in any way.
