Unlocking Learning Words Tests for Your Students

Learning Words tests are a key part of the Spellings for Me cycle. To keep things structured and easy to manage, we recommend that teachers unlock tests for their entire class at the same time. This ensures that all students are on the same 4-week cycle, making it easier to track progress and print new word lists together.

If you unlock students individually on different days, it quickly becomes difficult to track who is due for testing, so bulk unlocking is always best.

Option 1: Bulk Unlock (Recommended)

Go to your Teacher Dashboard.

You’ll see a list of all your students with checkboxes beside their names.

Tick the top checkbox to select all students in the class. (You can also tick only specific students if needed.)

Once students are selected, a blue button will appear on the right-hand side of your screen.

Click Unlock LW Test for Selected Users.

This will unlock the Learning Words test for all chosen students at the same time.

Option 2: Unlock for Individual Students

While bulk unlocking is recommended, you may occasionally want to unlock tests for specific students only.

On your Teacher Dashboard, tick the checkbox beside the student’s name(s).

Leave the rest unticked.

Click the Unlock LW Test for Selected Users button.

This will unlock the Learning Words test for just those selected students.

Best Practice

Always try to unlock all students together so that everyone is working on the same 4-week cycle.

After 4 weeks, simply repeat the process to unlock tests for the full class again.

This way, printing new word lists and tracking progress stays simple and consistent.

✅ Tip: Once unlocked, encourage students to complete their Learning Words test as soon as possible so their new cycle can begin smoothly.
